Hillary Clinton's True Thoughts On Trump's Chances Of 'Winning' The Election
Hillary Clinton left nothing off the table when pondering a second term for President Donald Trump, saying the prospect makes her "literally sick to my stomach." The former Democratic nominee spoke to Kara Swisher of the New York Times in an opinion podcast that was released Monday.
Clinton said she can’t fathom a second term for Trump. “I don’t think he has any conscience,” she said. “He’s obviously not a moral, truthful man.”
Looking back at her upset loss to Trump in 2016, Clinton said she felt she was the target of a disinformation campaign. From false reports that Pope Francis had endorsed Trump to questions about her health, Clinton expressed disappointment about the effectiveness of such content.
“You know, there were academic studies done afterwards — lots of them — about why people ended up not voting for me, and it was shocking what they believed,” she said. “I mean, the disinformation was incredibly pervasive.”
She struck a similar tone in the November-December issue of Foreign Affairs, writing that under Trump the “country is dangerously unprepared for a range of threats.” In a recent interview with The Atlantic, Clinton said that Trump “was a puppet” of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
There have been further efforts to discredit Clinton, years after she has left the political spotlight. Conspiracy theorists have linked Clinton, and several other public figures, with being linked to pedophile rings and drinks the blood of children to gain eternal youth.
Trump has continued efforts in 2020 to discredit his election opponent. He has posted on Twitter that Joe Biden was suspected of alleged corruption while in office and was worse than Clinton.
“Joe Biden is a corrupt politician — and the Biden family is a criminal enterprise” Trump tweeted. "This makes Crooked Hillary Clinton look like amateur hour!”
Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 2.9 million votes. Trump won three critical battleground states that a combined total of 46 electoral votes: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
