The mystery of the Gobblers and what they are doing with the kidnapped children will be solved in “His Dark Materials” episode 5. A preview video of the next episode shows Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) continuing her journey with her friends and allies and discussing the odds of winning against the Magisterium.

Lyra’s journey began with a search for the missing children. According to the plot of the next episode, she will uncover the truth about who the Gobblers are and where they are taking the missing children. She will now embark on a journey to the Station to rescue the kidnapped kids.

After realizing what she is up against, Lyra will wonder what her chances are of winning. The preview video of episode 5 shows her asking this question to her new friend Colonel John Perry (Andrew Scott), who tells are that they have little chance of success.

A clip from the previous episode shows John reaching Trollesund while searching for his friend Iorek Byrnison (Joe Tandberg). He found his friend, and they both joined Lyra in her fight.

Another clip from the previous episode shows Lyra helping to soothe Iorek’s anger and convincing him to join her cause. With her armor with him, the polar bear has pledged his allegiance to her.

The Gyptians will prepare to fight and kill in order to save the kidnapped children in “His Dark Materials” episode 5. They know that they are outnumbered, and are ill-equipped for the coming war, but they are determined to fight.

The preview video also shows Farder Coram (James Cosmo) discussing the dangerous situation they are all in with a witch. Will the witches help the Gyptians in the war?

“His Dark Materials” episode 5 is titled “The Lost Boy.” It will air on Dec. 2 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
