A hospital worker in England has made a gruesome admission – he said he murdered two women and sexually abused around 80 dead bodies stored in the morgues of the hospitals where he worked.
David Fuller, of East Sussex in South East England, has admitted to murdering Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, and sexually abusing their dead bodies back in 1987.
The 67-year-old, who worked as an electrician and maintenance supervisor in various hospitals across England, also admitted to violating around 80 dead bodies over a period of 12 years. However, police believe there are at least 99 victims and his case has been considered as the country's worst case of necrophilia, The Guardian reported.
Knell was found dead with severe injuries at her home on June 23, 1987. Pierce was murdered on Nov.24, 1987, and her body was later discovered in a water-filled ditch. around 30 years after the murders, Fuller was identified as the killer in both cases through DNA techniques.
He was arrested in December. Police executed a search at his residence after the arrest and found a collection of extreme pornographic videos and photos of sexual abuse stored in several hard drives. The hard drives also contained videos of him abusing the corpses at hospital morgues.
"When these hard drives were examined, they were found to contain a library of unimaginable sexual depravity," Prosecutor Duncan Atkinson told a court Thursday.
Police believe the abuse of the dead bodies happened between 2008 and 2020, and the victims were aged from nine to a 100-year-old woman, News Sky reported.
Investigators found that Fuller maintained detailed handwritten diaries of the abuse and had labeled the names of his victims against the images of him abusing their dead bodies. Fuller reportedly searched the identities of his victims through Facebook and used the ledgers from the mortuary and identification tags on the bodies to identify them.
"He admitted to searching for them on the internet, including on Facebook. He claimed that this would be after the offending, rather than research before offending," Atkinson added.
The court has not scheduled a date for his sentencing.
