'House Of The Dragon' Fans React To Death And Wedding In Episode 5
The latest episode of "House Of The Dragon" dropped Sunday night, and fans haven't been able to stop discussing how it was packed with a wedding, a murder and the portrayal of a gay person.
The new episode shows princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Milly Alcock) marrying prince Laenor Velaryon (played by Theo Nate), who is gay.
Considering the fact that Laenor is Lord Corlys (Steven Toussaint)'s heir, King Viserys Targaryen, who is played by Paddy Considine, has no problem in getting his daughter married to the former.
Prince Daemon (Matt Smith), on the other hand, who got physically involved with Rhaenyra -- despite being her uncle -- can be seen on his way to end the wedding. Before leaving to stop the wedding, he kills his wife, Lady Rhea.
By the end of the episode, the king can also be seen collapsing on the floor after his daughter says "I do" to Laenor.
Online users shared their reaction to the latest episode on Twitter. One of the fans shared actor Ben Affleck's smoking photo, and captioned it, "Viserys in every episode."
Another one added, "Daemon walking into the throne room every episode after being banished in the last one."
A user noted how the newly-wed couple in the new episode looked like Sharpay and Ryan Evans from the "High School Musical."
A "House Of The Dragon" viewer noted how Daemon's character created toxic environment in every episode.
Some fans even compared "House Of The Dragon" wedding scene with "Game of Thrones" wedding scene, where Joffrey Baratheon's character dies.
Some fans even praised the writers for adding depth to the gay prince, Laenor.
"Laenor saying he doesn't like girls 'not for a lack of trying', in one sentence, adds a ton of implied history and depth to him and his struggle with his sexuality," a viewer wrote.
Another viewer agreed, and commented, "So true. That's what good writing looks like. Says so much in so few words."
HBO Max's "House of the Dragon" is prequel to "Game of Thrones" series, and is based on George R. R. Martin's "Fire and Blood."
