Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven’t been press darlings recently. The media has turned against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, criticizing them for everything from their need for privacy to their use of private jets while promoting environmentalism. However, it might be their baby that gets them back in the British press’ good graces.

Ingrid Seward, royal reporter and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told the Telegraph that Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor might be seen on the tour to Africa to help his parents’ image.

“From a public relations point of view the Duke and Duchess really do need to show the people Archie,” Seward claimed. “He is the best ticket they have got for getting people to refall in love with them.”

Seward reasoned that people love babies. Parenting makes Meghan and Harry more relatable and a precious baby can soften their toughest critics.

“People are very susceptible to images of children. I don’t see the point of hauling him all the way there only to keep him under wraps,” Seward added.

Meghan and Harry have been avoiding putting Archie in the spotlight. They didn’t pose outside the hospital after birth, and they invited only a couple of cameras to meet him a few days after he was born.

However, this African tour might change that. It isn’t only Seward who believes this tour could be make-or-break for the Sussexes.

“They and their aides know this tour has to be a success, and everything has been planned meticulously so there is no margin for error,” sources told Vanity Fair.

Clearly, no promises have been made about Archie on the African tour, but CNN has a source that says he’ll likely appear “at some point.” They’ll probably wait for the four-month-old to be in a good mood and not too fussy.
