How Dating Jennifer Lopez Has ‘Humbled’ Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez is one of the biggest names in sports, but that hasn’t stopped people from not recognizing him while he’s out and about with girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. In fact, many mistake him for her hired muscle.

The former New York Yankees player appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he revealed that he’s regularly mistaken for J.Lo’s bodyguard. He’s not sweating it though — in fact, he says it’s helped to keep him humble. Rodriguez, 41, said that coming off his high profile baseball career, being around a megastar like his current girlfriend puts him in his place a little bit.

“This is one of the most humbling experiences of my life,” he told host Jimmy Fallon (via Us Weekly). “When I was on the Yankees and we won the world championship you wear the pinstripes and you think you’re pretty cool. But then you hang out with Jennifer and they confuse me for the security guard all the time.”

Rodriguez opened up about making their red carpet debut as a couple in May, revealing to the “Tonight Show” host that it didn’t go exactly as planned. The retired baseball super star recalled being shooed by paparazzi dying to snap a photo of only Lopez, 47. He added that they weren’t nice about it either when they asked him to move.

“I promise you. We were at the Met Gala and the paparazzi were screaming at me — not even in English — saying ‘Get the hell out of the way! Get out of the way! We want a picture,’” he recalled.

The public better get used to seeing Rodriguez around Lopez. The pair have been spending a significant amount of time together as of late, even bringing her kids with ex-husband Marc Anthony, Emme and Max, along for a little bonding. On Wednesday, the “Booty” singer shared a series of photos from a weekend getaway in the Hamptons.

The pair have been spending a significant amount of time together. In early June, Lopez shared another photo of Rodriguez bonding with her kids by the pool. He even brought his two children, Elle, 9, and Natasha, 12, along.

Their continued family time has rumors swirling about how serious their relationship is getting. Us recently reported that the pair have been talking more and more about their future. Marriage has been included in those talks, though sources say they’re not rushing down the aisle.

“They’ve been talking about the future and, of course, marriage has come up,” the source said. “They aren’t making wedding plans, but they have been talking about their lives.”

In addition to all the time they’ve been spending together stateside, Lopez and Rodriguez recently took their romance international. The pair jetted to France, which sources told People is a favorite of Lopez’s. They’re said to have had “the best week” together.

“Jennifer loves France. She has been many times and was very excited about the vacation with Alex,” one source said. “They had the best week. Things are great with them.”
