Ms. James (Singer) died of natural causes at Parkview Hospital, the Coroner's Office death record states. Her death was reported by the Riverside County Sheriff - Coroner, but does not meet the criteria to be investigated as a Coroner's Case. Etta James had been been suffering from leukemia, dementia and kidney failure before she died, according to court records obtained by the Riverside Press-Enterprise. The paper reported that she found out two weeks ago that her leukemia was incurable.

A beloved singer who penned such hits as At Last, Tell Mama and other classics, Etta James, who lived in Riverside at the time of her death, would have turned 74 on Wednesday. She released her last album, The Dreamer last year.

Her fans are already lamenting her passing, posting messages on her videos on YouTube and Tweeting out their condolences on Twitter.
