How Did Michael Galeota Die? Disney Child Star Found Dead At 31; GoFundMe Page Earns Thousands For Funeral
“Clubhouse Detectives” star Michael Galeota was found dead Sunday. The former Disney star, who was 31 years old, died of natural causes, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office told E! Online on Monday.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday. Galeota went to a hospital last week to be treated for abdominal pains, TMZ reported. He was released Wednesday. The star also had a history of health problems, such as hypertension, high cholesterol and diverticulitis, which is inflammation of the digestive tract.
He was discovered dead at his home in Glendale, California, by a friend who went to check on him. Galeota went silent over the weekend. The friend, who hasn’t been identified, climbed through a window and found the former Disney star dead on the living room floor, TMZ wrote.
Galeota’s loved ones started a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral arrangements. As of 8:30 p.m. EST they raised more than $13,000 of their $25,000 goal. They created a Gmail account so people could send photos of Galeota that could be shown at his wake.
"He was a precious gift -- loving, giving, compassionate, joyful and intelligent. A great inspiration for anyone that heard his genuine, humble, witty and joyful voice, or experienced his smile, laughter and love for just a moment. To know him was to love him," part of the post reads. "His humble nature hid a great compassionate and loving human being, with a huge heart. He cared profoundly for his family and friends. Mike was a great giver, always ready and able to care for others. Although his life was short, we are grateful and appreciate the experience of having been loved, and loved him in return, and for being in our lives. In our hearts and souls, he will always be with us."
Galeota was also known for his role on “The Jersey.”
