Princess Diana embarrassed Prince William after telling him she would make him proud.

On an online forum, royal fans shared their thoughts about Prince William’s furious reactions to Princess Diana’s infamous Panorama interview. Many believed that the duke reacted that way because his mom embarrassed him with her confessions.

Before the interview aired, Princess Diana told Prince William that it would “make him proud of her.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case because the second in line to the throne was very upset.

“Diana told too many secrets and aired her dirty laundry to the public, embarrassing her family, including a 13 yr old Prince William, who saw her interview while at Eton,” Deanna Eppers, an ardent royal follower commented.

Eppers added that Kate Middleton’s husband was upset and angry with his mom because she painted his father, Prince Charles, in a “very ugly light.” The Duke of Cambridge felt trapped between the two separated parents whom he loved so much.

Maggie Davey, former office manager, was convinced that the future king was embarrassed with Princess Diana’s interview. But according to her, things got worse when Prince Charles also agreed to do a TV interview.

“Prince William was understandably hurt, embarrassed and furious when he found out what his mother had said. However, I imagine he was a great deal more embarrassed and furious when Prince Charles gave his retaliation interview and was taped during a telephone conversation with Mrs Parker Bowles, saying that he wished he could be her tampon!” Davey wrote.

Kitty Dimbleby, daughter of Prince Charles’ biographer Jonathan Dimbleby, and a friend of Prince William and Prince Harry, confirmed the Duke of Cambridge’s embarrassment. According to her, the duke was distracted by what was going on at their home especially after his parents made headlines in the newspapers due to their troubled marriage.

“William told me, ‘Papa never embarrasses me but Mummy sometimes does,’” Kitty told royal biographer Katie Nicholl.

Despite the Prince and Princess of Wales’ feuding, they always made it a point to put a united front to support their two sons while they were at boarding school. In fact, the royal parents visited Prince William and Prince Harry together.
