How Does Katy Perry Protect Herself From Social Media Negativity? She 'Posts And Ghosts'
"Teenage Dream" singer Katy Perry has learned to limit her use of social media in order to protect herself against negativity.
The 38-year-old singer is also oblivious to detractors as she avoids reading about herself or the comments about her posts on the internet.
"I stopped Googling myself a long time ago, and I don't read comments. So, if I'm on social media, I post and ghost," Perry said in an interview with The Cut. "I am not going to open the door and invite the whole world to comment about how they think I should live my life."
Perry is also wise enough to choose whom she associates herself with and revealed, "I have a good trusted-friend group, I've got a therapist, and we've got a couple's therapist, which is really helpful. So, I'm very particular about letting other people's energies in."
Aside from avoiding negative talk on the web, the "Dark Horse" artist has developed a routine to keep herself relaxed after a busy day, which includes spending time with her 2-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, whom she shares with husband Orlando Bloom.
"I really try not to stay up past 10 p.m. anymore, because I know my baby is going to be up at 6 a.m," Perry told the outlet. "Whether I put her to bed at seven, eight, or nine, come 6 a.m., she's up. So, I have to count the hours backward from that. The clock is ticking."
"We do a lot of mommy-and-me classes," she said. "This morning, I was with her at a ballet class, and this woman goes, 'Oh my God, you look so much like Katy Perry.' And I was like, 'Hi, nice to meet you. I care about my kid and take her to classes.'"
Perry has also been visiting museums as part of her bonding activities with her child.
"I've become a member at all the museums — we go to the zoo, the Natural History Museum, the kids' museum. That's my new club," she said.
Perry, who became famous with her 2008 hit "I Kissed A Girl," previously revealed the reason why she does not have a full-time nanny for Daisy Dove.
"I am working a lot and I've always worked a lot. I'm kind of a matriarchal figure," Perry said in an episode of "SmartLess" podcast in August. She added, "I have a wonderful nanny, but I don't have a full-time nanny because I feel like if I had a full-time nanny then I would never be able to know how to care for my daughter like I'm meant to."
