How To Fight Flu: TV Doctor Reveals Drink That Could Reduce Symptoms
Flu, otherwise known as the deadly winter virus, affects so many people during winter. Some of the symptoms of flu include cough, a runny nose, and fever. While there may be no cure for flu, as you just need to wait it out, there are ways on how you would be able to lessen the symptoms. TV doctor Hilary Jones revealed how one drink could make the symptoms a bit lighter.
Many individuals would often go for homeopathic solutions or home remedies to reduce the symptoms of flu. A common concoction made by many is honey and lemon mixture. As per Express’ report, Dr. Hilary Jones recently revealed that there is one more drink that everyone would be happy to have to fight flu symptoms.
Turn to Whiskey
According to Dr. Jones, when you mix whiskey with the usual lemon with honey, you would be able to make a very nice hot toddy that could help reduce flu symptoms. He said that whiskey helps in soothing the throat. It acts as an anesthetic, and it could also help you sleep. It also creates a soothing effect on the mucus.
That Hot Chicken Soup
Aside from whiskey, Dr. Jones also recommends indulging in chicken soup. He said that this could greatly help in mitigating the symptoms of flu. He added that opting for chicken soup, is a remedy backed by scientific study.
He then went on what’s in a chicken soup, which makes it highly effective in alleviating flu symptoms. He said that chicken soup has bones and vegetables, which contains lots of antioxidants. Then there’s protein, which has a nourishing effect. Water from the soup helps in hydration and the steam that could be inhaled. This could then help clear up a stuffy nose.
Debunking Myths
Dr. Jones then went on to debunk the myths that surround the flu. For one, he revealed that if you go to bed with wet hair, you won't catch a cold, as with what many used to believe. He also stated that hugging trees to help a cold is also a myth.
He advised wrapping a scarf around the face whenever it gets cold. He also said that following a healthy diet and lifestyle, and getting a flu jab will be the ideal solution.
