Annalise may think she’s at the height of her career, but on “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 5, episode 3, the governor will attempt to knock her off of her high horse and threaten everything she worked for.

“Annalise (Viola Davis) and Emmett (Timothy Hutton) defend a wealthy CEO accused of killing his business partner, while the governor goes after Annalise and puts her new caseload and legal clinic in jeopardy,” the synopsis for “The Baby Was Never Dead” teases.

When Annalise reached out to legal firms to secure a job, she learned the governor was still bitter about her Supreme Court win and threatened to make things harder for every case tried by the firm that hired her. However, Emmett was desperate to rebuild the client list at Caplan & Gold and hired her anyway.

He also agreed to fund her legal clinic, which she revealed would include a year of free tuition for the highest ranking student of the class. Has the governor found a way to pressure Caplan & Gold into giving Annalise the boot?

“Bonnie (Liza Weil) struggles to accept her budding romance,” the synopsis for “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 5, episode 3, says. In the previous episode of the ABC series, Annalise told Bonnie she was stupid to fall for Ronald (John Hensley).

She reminded Bonnie that the plan was for her to get closer to Ronald to find out if Denver (Benito Martinez) shared any details about the files he created on them and his business with Laurel’s (Karla Souza) father.

Annalise berated Bonnie about going after men she could never have but Bonnie insisted he truly cared for her. She explained that there was no way Ronald would want anything to do with her if he saw the file Denver was keeping on her.

Although the argument ended with Bonnie and Annalise holding hands it doesn’t mean AK accepts the new romance. In the ABC promo video, Annalise is seen in a car with Ronald and tells him he is more interesting than she thought. Is Annalise meeting up with Ronald to turn him against Bonnie?

Throughout Annalise and Bonnie’s relationship, they have gone to great lengths to protect one another, even if it involves hurting the other person. Will she try to seduce Ronald in order to make Bonnie see he doesn’t really care about her?

“Asher (Matt McGorry) tries to outmaneuver his old mentor,” the synopsis for “The Baby Was Never Dead” states. In the promo video for the ABC drama, Asher tells Bonnie and Ronald he knows Annalise’s next move.

Asher is still bitter that Annalise gave Gabriel (Rome Flynn) the last spot in her legal clinic after everything they have been through. Will Asher actually manage to win a case against Annalise or will he just confirm that she was right to kick him out of her legal clinic?

“How to Get Away with Murder” Season 5, episode 3 airs Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
