How To Get On ‘Love It Or List It’; Casting Information For The Hit HGTV Series

Obsessed with watching HGTV? Join the club! From open floor plans to shiplap bedrooms, the network has managed to suck homeowners and design lovers into a world of renovations. But you don’t have to just watch from the comfort of your couch. You can actually apply to star on one of their shows!

“Love It Or List It” has been on the air since 2008. The series stars home designer Hilary Farr and realtor David Visentin. They work with homeowners who are torn about whether to find a new place to live or just make some updates to their existing home.

Originally filmed in Toronto and other surrounding areas in Canada, the series moved to North Carolina for filming in 2014. And for fans of Hilary and David, you can embark on a renovation journey while searching for your dream home.

Big Coat Productions, the production company behind the HGTV show, is currently casting homeowners to appear in an episode. But there are more requirements than just being a homeowner and wanting to move.

For starters, you must live in North Carolina. If you meet that requirement, then you must be willing to renovate your current place while looking for another home. If that sounds like you, then the next step would be filling out an application. The application asks for your current address, along with family photos and the cost of your home when you first purchased it. You must also be able to provide details about the home, like square footage, the number of bathrooms and bedrooms, heating and the age of some of your big-ticket renovation projects, such as the furnace, plumbing and air conditioning.

Other questions on the application include why your home is no longer suitable for your family, as well as what your “daily life” is like. Those interested in appearing on the show must also list their renovation budget and ideas, as well as their new home wish list and budget. If you’ve got a good story, good budget and interesting home, you might just get the renovation or new house of your dreams!
