  • His love for work inspires him to keep going in cutthroat entertainment industry: Wang

Jackson Wang reflected on the meaning of happiness as a K-pop artist for over a decade.

The 28-year-old “Hard Carry” singer said he learned valuable lessons after going through difficult times as a musician in the cutthroat K-pop industry.

“What I eventually realized after difficult times is that you can’t have everything, so you just need to do what you want to do,” Wang said in an article published by Singles Magazine.

“Every choice will of course have its pros and cons, but I’ve realized that if I get even a little bit closer to my goal every day, then that in itself is happiness to me,” he added.

The Chinese-born singer was launched by JYP Entertainment in 2014 and recorded a string of hits with his band members including the songs “Girls Girls Girls,” and “Never Ever.” His most recent reunion single, “Nanana,” was released a year after GOT7 returned as a group post leaving their music label.

Aside from being an entertainer, Wang is also the CEO of his own record label Team Wang, which he founded in 2017, and his luxury apparel brand, Team Wang Design.

Wang said he derives happiness by immersing himself in work and giving his best to all his endeavors.

“Before, I just tried to work hard. Wanting to do a good job always came first. Now, I know that music is also art, and therefore I need to sincerely feel it and understand it,” Wang revealed to the outlet.

The singer also emphasized the importance of enjoying one’s work and said, “I have to enjoy it, and I have to trust myself.” He added, “When I think back to when I became an artist, I realize that the fact that I love my work and that I don’t think of it as work hasn’t changed.”

Wang was recently in Thailand for the Bangkok Century Cup where he debuted his new single, “Mind Games.”
