‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Leaks Online; What Will Happen In ‘The Poker Game’?
Robin and Barney’s wedding weekend is officially under way on the ninth and final season of “How I Met Your Mother.” The first two episodes of the new season premiered back to back on CBS this Monday, and we’ve got some scoop on what to expect from episode 5 when it airs on Oct. 14.
The bride and groom-to-be may have dodged a bullet with James’ divorce in episode 2, “Coming Back,” but they won’t be able to avoid momma drama. Episode 5, “The Poker Game,” will find Robin butting heads with her future monster-in-law mother-in-law, Loretta (Frances Conroy) … and Barney has to choose sides. Fortunately he’s got a friend in Lily, who is by his side and ready to coach him on “how to not ruin his relationships.”
Robin vs. Loretta isn’t the only feud that “How I Met Your Mother” viewers will feast on in “The Poker Game.” Ted and Marshall will get into their own tiff over – wait for it – wedding gifts and thank you notes.
Fans keeping tabs on season 9 spoilers know that the drama in episode 5 will be far from the first trouble to plague Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend … and certainly won’t be the last.
Lily will be struggling to deal with Ted’s secret plan to move to Chicago in episode 3, and becomes even more frustrated when she unearths a list of things he wants to do in New York before he leaves. Meanwhile, Robin and Barney will have trouble just finding some alone time as their relatives begin to arrive for the nuptials.
Episode 4 will deal with the Barney uncovering Ted’s secret – not the move to Chicago but that Ted still has feelings for Robin. As expected, Barney won’t take the news well and will work through his anger with Ted by taking it out on him during the best man poker game. With Marshall still attempting to travel back in town for the wedding, he’ll be forced to take on his first case as a judge – helping settle Barney and Ted’s dispute via Skype.
“How I Met Your Mother” airs on Monday nights on CBS at 8 p.m. EDT.
