How I Met Your Mother

It’s almost time to meet “The Mother”! “How I Met Your Mother” may have revealed actress Cristin Milioti’s face in the season-eight finale, but fans of the hit CBS situation comedy will be getting to really know her when the show premieres Sept. 23. A few weeks remain until the highly anticipated hourlong premiere episode is shown, but fortunately viewers have a couple of new promotional materials to hold them over: A brand-new promo video for season nine has been released, along with a fun promotional poster.

“Eight years ago -- this man -- sat down with these kids -- to explain how he met their mother,” an announcer says as the cameras cuts to Ted and then his two children (played by Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie).

“Is this going to take a while?” Ted’s daughter asked at the beginning of the series. Little did she know that she’d be stuck on that couch with her brother for nine seasons of television.

“On Monday, Sept. 23 -- See the Mother -- Meet the Mother -- Get to know the Mother,” the announcer continues to tease. And while the promo is only saying the obvious, fans are treated to a little something special in the video – actual interaction between Milioti’s Mother character and Alyson Hannigan’s Lily!

“Do you want a cookie?” Milioti’s character asks a distraught-looking Lily on a train. Ted’s best friend nods and reaches for one. But while it looks like a sweet interaction, something is going to go down in the middle of it to make Lily do something completely insane.

“Sorry I tried to bite you,” Lily says to the Mother. “I’m sorry I swatted you on the nose with a rolled-up magazine,” Milioti’s character responds.

Meanwhile, the new poster for the final season is keeping the core five (Ted, Marshall, Lily, Barney and Robin) intact. Although fans suspected Milioti’s Mother character might pop up somewhere in the promo art, the CBS series decided to forgo adding the new series regular. Instead, the photo highlights Barney’s and Robin’s wedding, putting the focus on Robin, who is holding a bouquet of flowers and wearing a veil.
