‘How I Met Your Mother’ Star Cristin Milioti Cast As Lead In New Series; What Is ‘A to Z’?
Cristin Milioti is ditching Ted Mosby! The 28-year-old actress, who joined the cast of “How I Met Your Mother” at the end of season 8 as Ted's wife, has been cast as the co-lead in a new pilot from NBC, “A to Z.”
NBC ordered the pilot in early January, and it’s described by TV Line as a “whimsical romantic comedy set in the world of an online dating company.” The series will focus on the relationship of a young couple named Andrew and Zelda – but more specifically their relationship from “meeting to breakup.”
According to Deadline, Milioti will be playing Zelda, a lawyer at a small public-advocacy law firm. And despite the fantasy name, the character is described as a “realist.” The site continues that Zelda alternates between “serious and hilarious” and doesn’t believe in “destiny or fate.”
“How I Met Your Mother” is currently finishing up its ninth and final season. Milioti’s character has been lightly sprinkled throughout the first half of the season, immediately charming viewers and becoming a fan favorite. She was recently the focus of the CBS series’ special 200th episode, which revealed what she has been doing for the past eight years – even showing the few times that she accidentally crossed paths with her future husband, Ted.
Milioti’s character name on “How I Met Your Mother” is still under tight wraps, with the actress dishing to Entertainment Weekly that she still doesn’t even know.
“I don’t know if it’s because they think I’m a terrible liar, but no, I have not been told that,” she explained. “It’s very much on lockdown.”
