How Kate Middleton Dressed Before She Married Prince William, Became A Duchess
Kate Middleton had a great sense of fashion even before she married Prince William and joined the royal family.
Elle recently shared a clip of how the Duchess of Cambridge dressed before she officially joined the Firm. Based on the video, Middleton is just like anybody else and dressed according to the occasion.
Some photos showed her wearing sleeveless tops, sweatshirts and pants. But when it comes to more formal events, she knows how to pick the right dress and hat. It's no wonder she was named one of the best dressed personalities in Britain of 2018. A number of royals made it to the list as well, including Meghan Markle, Queen Elizabeth II, and Prince George.
However, the Queen beat the Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge as the "ultimate power dresser." Tatler cited the monarch's fondness for "bright colors" and floral prints.
Middleton has gained a following for her fashion, and many of her fans have purchased the same wardrobe, giving birth to the RepliKate community. Even Markle has copied some of Middleton’s fashion choices. A number of designers noticed this when the former "Suits" star officially became a royal.
"Meghan's style certainly bears more resemblance to Kate's since she became Duchess," Anna Mewes, a personal stylist, told Express. "Her overall look has become more polished and her hair at recent Royal engagements has been styled in glossy curls and understated up-dos which are almost identical to Kate's."
"Both Kate and Meghan gravitate towards quite fitted, tailored dresses and when you look back, Meghan has been a fan of this more structured style long before the royal wedding," Mewes continued. "[Meghan] would often opt for quite bold jewel tones but since her marriage to Prince Harry her wardrobe has been made up of neutral shades with no colour whatsoever."
British designer Caroline Castigliano had the same observation. "At the moment, she's really dressing like Kate," she said.
Although some have compared Markle and Middleton to each other, there is no rivalry between the royal sisters-in-law. In fact, when they showed up at Wimbledon, a photographer pointed out how the new duchess allowed Prince William's wife to lead them.
In addition, as Markle's family drama continues, Middleton has reportedly become her "pillar of support." The Duchess of Sussex also gained a good friend in the Queen. In fact, Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton are among Markle's closest friends at the time.
