How To Make $2K Watching Galentine’s Movies With Your BFF
While some may be looking forward to Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14, others are more interested in Galentine’s Day on Feb. 13 instead—the day where women celebrate their friendships with one another. However, like most things, traditional get-togethers aren’t going to be the same thanks to the COVID-19 Pandemic—but there is still a way to virtually celebrate the day this year, and earn $2,000 while doing it.
US Dish is holding a contest where they will pay $2,000 to a lucky applicant who is willing to a virtual watch party with their girlfriends and watch three films that celebrate female friendship. Once chosen, all the person needs to do is host a Galentine’s Day streaming party either through Google Hangouts or Zoom before the end of the month and watch three different movies. Afterward, they can post a video to Youtube or Vimeo and discuss how the party went.
Applicants who are 18 years or older and lawful residents of the United States can apply here and have until 12 p.m. MT on Feb. 16th to submit their applications. Those who also include a video submission about what friendship means to them will be given special consideration.
In addition to the $2,000, the winner will also receive meal vouchers through DoorDash or UberEats for themself and their friends, Galentine’s Day themed swag, streaming access to each of the three movies and access to a virtual hangout room.
As for the films that need to be watched? The winner only needs to choose three from a list of rom-coms and other movies that have a message about the power of female friendships. The options are “Bridesmaids,” “Bride Wars,” “Clueless,” “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood,” “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “Girls Trip,” “How to Be Single,” “Legally Blonde,” “Mean Girls,” “Miss Congeniality,” “Pitch Perfect,” “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Sex and the City” and “Something Borrowed.”
Those looking to spice things up by making their watch party even more fun may find some luck with red and pink cocktails and gather up the chocolate, or, may want to take a page from Leslie Knope’s book on “Parks and Recreation” --by celebrating like her as much as possible.
