How Many Trump Supporters Went To ‘Million MAGA March’ In Washington, DC?
Crowds of Trump’s supporters descended on the nation's capital Saturday to show their support for the president and to assert the false premise that voter fraud cost Trump the election. The rallies included the Women for Trump event, the “Million MAGA March” and the “Stop the Steal” demonstration.
It is unclear how many people gathered for what has been generally referred to as the “Million MAGA March,” but most estimates noted that there were thousands or tens of thousands.
The figures were well short of White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who on Twitter claimed there were “more than one million.”
Meanwhile, Trump had a different number in mind when estimating the number of people who attended the rally.
“Hundreds of thousands of people showing their support in D.C. They will not stand for a Rigged and Corrupt Election!” Trump tweeted on Saturday.
The march was organized as a result of Trump’s baseless claims about “voter fraud,” which he blamed as the reason for losing the presidential election to Joe Biden. Throughout the march, attendees chanted “stop the steal” and “four more years.”
Two police officers were injured during violent clashes and around 20 people were arrested on several charges including assault and weapons possession, the Associated Press reports.
Throughout the march, most of the demonstrators were maskless despite the rising number of positive COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
On Sunday, Trump admitted that Biden won the election but stood firm to his belief that the election was rigged.
“He only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA. I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!” Trump tweeted.
