How Many Votes Did Kanye West Get? A Look At How The Hip-Hop Star Fared Against Biden, Trump
Rap star and presidential candidate Kanye West has received 60,000 votes across 12 states, as of Wednesday evening.
West did not come close to winning a state and has so far not appeared to have "played spoiler" in key swing states. His vote total fell well short of the Libertarian and Green Party nominees.
West’s top-performing state in terms of vote count was Tennessee, where he received 10,188 votes. He received just 0.3% of the total count.
In three states, West has received 0.4% of the vote: Idaho (3,631 votes), Utah (4,344 votes), and Oklahoma (5,590 votes). West has not reached higher than 0.4% support in any other state.
Despite the showing, West hinted in a tweet that he may run again in 2024.
The 43-year-old announced his run on July 4, choosing little-known Wyoming preacher Michelle Tidball as his running mate. West launched his own political party, The Birthday Party, and chose “YES!” and “2020VISION” as his campaign slogans.
He has made multiple bizarre comments during his run. In a July interview with Forbes, West called vaccines “the mark of the beast” and said, “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.”
During his first campaign rally in South Carolina in mid-July, West falsely claimed abolitionist Harriet Tubman “never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people.” He also tearfully described how he and his wife, celebrity Kim Kardashian, almost aborted their first child.
