KEY POINTS
- Meghan Markle's mom has been helping her and Prince Harry after baby Lily's arrival, a report says

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have another set of hands to help with their children in her mom, Doria Ragland, a report says.
Ragland has been helping her daughter and son-in-law since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their baby girl, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, an unnamed source told Us Weekly.
"They’ve had lots of lovely gifts sent from friends and family members including Doria, but the most special thing she’s provided is her time," the insider said.
Markle and Prince Harry are grateful to have Ragland around in their Montecito, California, home to help with Lili and Archie, 2, according to the source.
"She’s been helping out at the house and her hands-on support is a major bonus," the insider added of Markle's mother. "Meghan’s so grateful to have her mom to lean on, and Harry just adores her."
Ragland, a former social worker, also spent several weeks with her daughter and Prince Harry in their U.K. home Frogmore Cottage after Markle gave birth to Archie in 2019.
Markle's mother was reportedly there for them as well when the duchess suffered a miscarriage last summer.
"She’s guiding Harry and Meghan — helping them heal and come to terms with their painful loss," an unnamed source told Us Weekly in November 2020, after Markle revealed her miscarriage in an op-ed for The New York Times. "But for anyone who has suffered from a miscarriage, it’s something you never fully get over."
Markle is estranged from her father, Thomas Markle Sr., but she is very close to her mother. According to People, baby Lili's name also has a subtle nod to Ragland.
Markle's mom used to call her "Flower" when she was a child. The former "Suits" star mentioned this in one entry on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
"Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little)," Markle wrote.
The duchess also included lily of the valley in her bridal bouquet when she married Prince Harry in 2018. The addition of the flower is a symbol of happiness and rebirth. It was also a nod to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, who carried the same flower in her bouquet at her royal wedding to Prince Charles.
