How ‘Outlander’ Fans Can Watch The Season 3 Premiere Early
“Outlander” fans are anxiously awaiting the Season 3 premiere, but not everyone has to wait until Sept. 10. The Starz drama had a surprise screening a San Diego Comic Con, and more advanced previews are coming to Los Angeles.
Starz revealed details for the early screenings on the social media pages for “Outlander.” There will be three showings of the Season 3 premiere at the Pacific Theaters at the Grove in Los Angeles on Sept. 5. Though the showings will be at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., fans should get there early. Tickets will be given out at 10 a.m. to whoever is in line first.
After getting tickets, attendees will have to keep busy until the festivities officially kick off at 3:30 p.m. It looks like the team at Starz has set up plenty of fun activities. Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) fans will likely want to see the recreation of his print shop, which will play a huge role in the new “Outlander” episodes. There will be a flower crown bar for those feeling a bit whimsical. Fans can even have their tea leaves read at the event, the same way Claire (Caitriona Balfe) did in the pilot episode. While people won’t be able to take photos during the actual screening, attendees will be able to commemorate the event with a photo booth.
The activities will be open to everyone, not just those who score a ticket. So even if you don’t get into the screening, you can still have a fun “Outlander”-themed Tuesday.
While the advanced premiere will likely be filled with fans anxiously waiting for Jamie and Claire to get back together, they won’t see it in the first episode. Jamie and Claire will be separated for several episodes before they finally reunite in his print shop. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore revealed that the characters will spend nearly half the season apart because the writers are staying truthful to Diana Gabaldon’s novel “Voyager.”
“As always, we take our cues from the book first,” Moore told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in July (via the Hollywood Reporter). “The book laid out this episodic story of Jamie, it began with five chapters of his life from the Battle of Culloden to Lallybroch, to prison and Hellwater and ends up in the print shop. So as we approached this season structurally, we laid out the cards on the board and it was clear, that’s five episodes right there.”
While the Starz TV show follows the book often, expect some big differences. The opening of the Season 3 premiere will be much more action-packed than the book. The premiere starts with Jamie at the Battle of Culloden.
Meanwhile, Claire will be busy getting to know Frank (Tobias Menzies) again. They’ll be raising Brianna (Sophie Skelton) together, but with Claire’s heart still belonging to Jamie, it will be a struggle to adjust to being home.
“Outlander” Season 3 premieres Sunday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.
