After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry received a slew of backlash over their decision to use a private jet to travel around Europe, Prince William and Kate Middleton appeared to snub the couple with their latest vacation.

Earlier this week, Elton John claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to travel on a private jet was due to safety reasons.

However, William, Kate and their three children were recently pictured boarding a scheduled flight using FlyBe, a no-frills budget airline. Daily Mail reporter, Janet Street-Porter claimed the incident caused Meghan and Harry’s image to take another hit.

“In the Battle of the Brothers, Wills has scored a winning goal. As social media hums with the irritating drone of well-intentioned celebrity ‘friends’ leaping to defend the Duchess of Sussex, William has executed a PR masterstroke,” she wrote.

“Just after 8 a.m. this morning, the entire Cambridge family plus nanny walked across the tarmac at Norwich airport to board a scheduled flight to Aberdeen for their annual visit to Balmoral,” the writer continued.

Street-Porter suggested that the timing of Kate and William’s trip appeared to be a jab at Harry and Meghan’s controversial traveling methods.

“The flight might have been planned for weeks, but the timing proved to be impeccable, coinciding with Harry and Meghan facing jet-gate, and a storm of criticism over whether their mode of travel was in sync with their green credentials,” she explained.

Although Street-Porter noted that Prince William and Kate probably received special treatment when it came to boarding the plane, she claimed the trip could have been the Duke of Cambridge’s attempt to get revenge against his brother amid their rumored feud.

“There’s some cachet in being a Prince, even if you are losing your hair. William’s choice of airline was absolutely guaranteed to stoke up the furore surrounding his brother’s use of private jets - as he must have known it would,” she shared.

“There’s no love lost between the pair when it comes to playing the media when it suits them. The royal family regularly travel on scheduled flights (air miles Andy more than the rest of them put together) - but choosing FlyBe is really flaunting your worthy credentials,” Street-Porter added.

Following the uproar over Meghan and Prince Harry’s “jet-gate” scandal, the couple has not addressed the backlash.

Although there is speculation about whether William and Kate deliberately traveled after their in-laws’ scandal, the couples have continued to put on a united front amid feud rumors.
