Princess Diana once irritated Prince Charles by hiding his car keys while they were in Highgrove.

Petronella Wyatt, a contributor for the Daily Mail, detailed the heated encounter between the Prince and Princess of Wales. She said that the royal couple was informed that Queen Elizabeth II would be visiting them in Highgrove.

Prince Charles was told that his car was in the way so he went looking for his keys, but he couldn’t find them. The heir to the throne asked his then wife if she saw his car keys, and Princess Diana vowed to not have seen them.

“The whole house was turned upside down looking for them… Everybody was asked… Diana swore she hadn’t seen them. The staff all said the same thing… Then came the moment when the Queen’s car was just arriving,” Wyatt told Express.

At this point, the Princess of Wales leaned out of a top window and shouted at Prince Charles. “There are your lousy keys!” she said before throwing them out onto the drive.

Wyatt said that Princess Diana was holding on to the car keys the whole time and she refused to give them back to Prince Charles because she wanted to irritate him.

But prior to their marriage, it was revealed that Princess Diana actually tried to single-mindedly go after Prince Charles. The late Stephen Barry said that the Princess of Wales wanted the Prince of Wales, and she got him.

One of the things that Princess Diana did was to make friends with Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones just so she could get close to the future King. However, the couple’s relationship was short-lived.

It didn’t take very long before Prince Charles and Princess Diana realized how different they were. The couple wed in 1981, and they separated in 1992. In 1996, their divorce was finalized.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana were blessed with two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
