How Queen Elizabeth Consoled ‘Sad’ Princess Beatrice For This Adorable Reason
Queen Elizabeth II once consoled her granddaughter, Princess Beatrice, due to an adorable reason.
Several years ago, the Queen spent time with her young grandchildren in Balmoral Castle whenever they were on vacation. In the documentary “Elizabeth R,” an unearthed clip shows Her Majesty consoling the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
In the clip, Her Majesty assists her grandchildren down the path while riding their horse. She helped Princess Beatrice ride her pony Smokey. The young royal is heard complaining about not being allowed to ride a bigger horse just like her cousin, Zara Tindall.
The 4-year-old asks her grandmother if she could come, and the Queen tells Princess Beatrice that one day when she is a little bit bigger, she would be allowed to do so.
Unfortunately, Princess Beatrice didn’t like her grandmother’s answer. She starts shouting no at the top of her lungs. But instead of getting upset, the Queen simply told her granddaughter that they should already follow her other grandchildren.
The Queen also encouraged Princess Beatrice to call her horse, and she followed her orders. After the incident, Princess Beatrice and Her Majesty calmly followed Prince William and the other royals outside Balmoral Castle.
Her Majesty reportedly has a wonderful relationship with her grandchildren especially when they were very young. While speaking with Good Housekeeping, body language expert Susan Constantine analyzed some of the monarch’s photos with the young royals.
“It’s incredible how attentive, hands-on, and engaging she is given the fact that she has a royal rulebook to follow,” she said.
Patti Wood, another body language expert, also talked about the Queen’s photo with Prince William and Prince Harry while all three are looking out of the window.
“This particular instance is striking because she throws her ‘royal body bubble’ out the window and gets close with her grandkids. Normally, we see the Queen in front and a few steps ahead of everyone else but here, she steps back and lets the kids lead the way,” Wood said.
