How The Queen And Prince Harry Really Feel About Meghan Markle’s Letter Scandal
The tense relationship between Meghan Markle and her father Thomas reached new heights in recent days due to the publication of a letter the Duchess of Sussex wrote him that he has since revealed to the press. Now, it appears the reigniting of their feud and estrangement in the public eye has led to more tensions within the Royal Family as well.
The letter in question, which Markle wrote to her father in 2018 after he continued giving interviews to the press and was first alluded to in an interview with alleged close friends of the Duchess in People, was made public over the weekend when Thomas Markle shared it with The Mail on Sunday. According to Vanity Fair, his releasing the letter has only made things even worse, and that tension is being felt throughout Kensington and Buckingham palaces.
According to the report, the situation is something that Queen Elizabeth has been aware of from the beginning, and while her thoughts on the current drama are unknown, she made both Meghan and Prince Harry aware of her feelings prior to the holidays.
“She told them both that the whole thing was becoming a nightmare, and that they should try and sort things out,” a source said.
In addition, Harry himself is “angry” and “upset” that his father-in-law, whom he has never met, continues to speak to the press, while Markle herself is “at her wit’s end.”
However, this recent scandal is the one that may have possibly pushed her over the edge when it comes to her family, and a source said that she isn’t planning on releasing a comment about her father leaking her private letter because she doesn’t want to make things worse.
“She cares for her dad, and has concerns for him and his mental health, which is one of the reasons she doesn’t want to comment on this,” the source said. “It’s a very complex, very emotional situation, and let’s not forget she is seven months pregnant.”
