How The Queen Really Feels About Meghan Markle
Much has been said about Meghan Markle’s relationships with the royal family, but the latest reports indicate that the Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with Queen Elizabeth II might not be as dramatic as some believe. In fact, an insider says they even have a “loving” relationship.
Meghan’s ambitious and hardworking attitude has made a good impression on her husband’s grandmother. “Meghan and the Queen come from two very different backgrounds and generations, but there’s a warmth between the two that is genuine and loving,” an insider told Us Weekly in the March 11 print issue.
The anonymous source added that the women seem to have a good time. “Whenever they’re together, they always have a giggle,” the source said.
The two certainly have differences. Meghan has been outspoken about feminism (royals generally stay away from politics) and has broken plenty of royal fashion “rules” with her bare legs and dark nails. Still, the Queen reportedly admires Meghan’s intelligence.
“She seems really interested in hearing Meghan’s thoughts on the world,” the insider claimed.
Of course, no relationship is perfect. The Queen reportedly wasn’t thrilled about Meghan’s lavish New York City baby shower. Though tennis player Serena Williams footed the bill for the event, held in the most expensive hotel suite in the U.S., the royal family generally tries to stay away from displaying their luxurious lives.
The Queen is also supposedly displeased that Meghan and Kate Middleton are rumored to be feuding. Reports recently claimed that the monarch is the one who suggested Meghan and Prince Harry might be happier if they moved out of Kensington Palace.
The two are currently renovating Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. Other reports have claimed that the Sussexes are moving because they want more privacy. Not only is Kensington Palace packed with royals, but it’s also in London. Windsor might allow the couple to live a quieter life.
