‘How Selfish Can You Be,' Kyrgios Takes To Instagram To Slam Star Player For Partying During Djokovic’s Adria Tour [Video]

Nick Kyrgios has slammed German tennis player Alexander Zverev for breaching social distancing rules during Novak Djokovic’s exhibition tournament, the Adria Tour.

A video has emerged showing Zverev partying in a room full of people and it has resulted in massive criticism going his way.

The tournament, which took place in Serbia and Croatia, saw its final leg in Montenegro get called off after the likes of World No.1 Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, and Viktor Troicki tested positive for COVID-19. A few training staff members and Djokovic's wife also tested positive for the virus.

Although Zverev and his team have tested negative for COVID-19, he has admitted to putting a lot of people at risk by participating in the tour.

“I deeply apologize to anyone that I have potentially put at risk by playing this tour. I will proceed to follow the self-isolating guidelines advised by our doctors. As an added precaution my team and I will continue with regular testing,” the 23-year-old tennis star said in an official statement.

“I wish everyone who has tested positive a speedy recovery. Stay safe,” he added.

Australia’s outspoken Kyrgios, who earlier had termed the idea of organizing the Adria tournament in these trying times “boneheaded”, has condemned Zverev’s actions through a video on his Instagram story.

“So I wake up and I see more controversial things happening all over the world but one that stuck out for me was seeing Sascha Zverev again, again, again, how selfish can you be? How selfish can you be? I mean, if you have the audacity to put out a tweet that you made your management write on your behalf saying your going to self-isolate for 14 days and apologizing to f-----g general public for putting their health at risk, at least have the audacity to stay inside for 14 days, my god."

"Have your girlfriend with you for f-----g 14 days. Pissing me off, this tennis world is pissing me off, seriously, how selfish can you all get,” Kyrgios, who rose to fame in 2014 when he defeated then-World No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the fourth round of Wimbledon, further added.

The current World No. 7, Zverev, reportedly is also expected to play in a Berlin tennis event in July and that could again witness thousands of fans flock to the stadium. There will be two events in Berlin — one outdoors at the Steffi Graf Stadium and one indoors at the city's historic Tempelhof Airport.
