On Wednesday, Ford will reveal its long-anticipated all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck in a livestreaming event from its World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Here, Ford fans will be able to see the automaker take the wraps off the electrified pickup truck, which the company has been tight-lipped about. It has revealed very little about the vehicle prior to the planned introduction.

To view the livestreaming launch, viewers can tune in at 9:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday via Ford’s YouTube channel, as well as its Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Ford announced back in July 2019 that it was coming to market with an electric F-150, touting at the time the truck’s ability to pull 10 double-decker rail cars, weighing more than 1 million pounds.

Since announcing its commitment to launching the electric truck, Ford has been quiet on the details, saying only that it will “feature dual electric motors targeted to deliver more horsepower and torque than any F-150 available today, the fastest acceleration, and the ability to tow heavy trailers.”

Ford also said that it will “require significantly less maintenance than a typical gasoline engine,” and have more cargo-carrying versatility and security.

In a statement about the livestreaming event, Ford President and CEO Jim Farley, said: “Every so often, a new vehicle comes along that disrupts the status quo and changes the game … Model T, Mustang, Prius, Model 3. Now comes the F-150 Lightning.

“America’s favorite vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and fully electric. F-150 Lightning can power your home during an outage; it’s even quicker than the original F-150 Lightning performance truck; and it will constantly improve through over-the-air updates.”

Ford said it will begin production of the F-150 Lightning next spring at its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn.
