The Huge Prop 'Schitt's Creek' Star Emily Hampshire Took From Set
Emily Hampshire, who plays Stevie Budd on the immensely successful show “Schitt’s Creek,” revealed that there was one prop from the set she took home with her after the series finale wrapped.
Hampshire, who was promoting her Tide Super Bowl ads, told Uproxx that the item she felt she needed to have amongst all others was one that can be seen in just about every episode. Her character, Stevie, works at the front desk of the motel the Rose family lives in and helps manage. Behind her, almost every day of work, there is a painting.
“It’s the size of the entire set. I took that,” Hampshire told the interviewer. “So basically, I took a wall. And it’s now in my 500-square-foot Toronto apartment, which is a two-bedroom. It has an office and so that is in my office, just wedged in there.”
The interviewer joked that Hampshire will now “always be the girl behind the desk,” to which the Canadian actress replied: “Yes, exactly. I love it.”
Since it was announced that the show would be ending after its currently airing sixth season, Hampshire decided to take the painting as a memento. On the topic of the show ending, the actress said “it’s harder” on her than it is on fans of the show who tell her how sad they are it’s ending. After all, she got paid to sit behind the front desk of that fictional motel all day and play Sudoku.
Although she had to take home a keepsake in remembrance of her time spent on the show, Hampshire stated that she’s very satisfied with how showrunners Dan and Eugene Levy decided to end the show.
