Hurricane Delta Wedding: Louisiana Bride Praises ‘Superman’ Husband’s Romantic Ceremony Before Tropical Cyclone

A bride in Louisiana has her new husband and her faith to thank for the wedding that she feared Hurricane Delta would ruin.

ABC 7 NY reported that Taylor Choate and Ian Gaspard set their wedding date on Oct. 10 months ago. However, as the couple’s big day approached, it was announced that Hurricane Delta would hit Louisiana on their wedding date.

The bride was devastated, to say the least, but she revealed that it was through prayer and wise words from her husband-to-be that she was able to cope with the fact that her dream wedding wouldn’t happen.

“My Superman here came in and saved the day,” Choate explained.

“He told me that, at the end of the day, we just wanted to get married and it was important that we did it in the church. That was important to our parents and our faith. We were going to originally just come and just our parents and us, we’re going to get married. We threw this together.”

The couple initially planned to have a large wedding at Abbeville’s Saint Mary Magdalen Church and didn't think they were in the path of the tropical cyclone. The news took an emotional toll on Taylor, who cried for three days after learning her wedding would have to be canceled.

“We were supposed to get married Saturday with over 300 people,” Choate revealed.

“We knew about the storm, but we were kind of like, eh, because it wasn’t supposed to be coming to us. Then all of a sudden it was supposed to come like right to us. So of course I got hysterical.”

Luckily, Gaspard was by her side to save the day and to remind her that their love for each other was the only thing that mattered.

Hurricane Delta is the fourth storm this season that is expected to hit the southwest region of Louisiana. AP News reported that Louisiana parishes and local governments have issued mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders along the coast in areas at risk of flooding or containing residents with special medical needs.
