Husband Allegedly Electrocutes Wife To Death, Buries Body In Bedroom

A man in India allegedly killed his wife and then buried her body in their bedroom in a bid to hide the crime.

The victim has been identified as Uma Sharma from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Times Now reported Sunday.

The woman, whose age was not known, got married to Wasi Mohammad seven years ago. Mohammad and Sharma have two children, media reports said.

The two were reportedly frequently involved in arguments, following their marriage. After a quarrel two days ago, Mohammad electrocuted his wife and buried the dead body in the bedroom of the house.

The incident came to light after the victim's mother found out about her daughter. The victim's mother lodged a police complaint following which authorities arrived at their residence and dug up the corpse, Sanatan Prabhat reported.

It wasn't clear how Sharma's mother came to know about her daughter's death.

The victim's body was sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The authorities said there were no injuries on the deceased's body, OP India reported.

The accused was arrested and was currently being questioned, said Rajesh Yadav, the jurisdictional officer of the city of Gola Gokarnath.

Authorities said that strict action will be taken against the culprit following the incident.

Last week, a woman was arrested in India for killing her husband after the man picked up a fight with her in an inebriated state. The incident took place in Raebareli, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Following the murder, the woman slept next to the man's body, after convincing their kids that he was asleep, the police said. The police initially investigated the case as death by overdose of alcohol. However, the cops later determined the victim's death was a homicide due to strangulation. The police took the accused into custody, following which she confessed to the killing. During questioning, the accused revealed she had an altercation with her husband after he came home drunk and beat her up. The woman hit the man with a heavy object and strangled him to death when he was unconscious, the police said.
