A man who took it upon himself to track down his wife's killer has helped authorities to arrest an 85-year-old suspect last week.
Corona resident Tashiro Isa was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter late Friday for the death of 48-year-old Brenda Richardson, according to a Facebook post by the Corona Police Department.
The incident happened on February 5 when Richardson, who was at the time riding her motorcycle, was struck by what witnesses described to be a “white or crème colored sedan.” Richardson was traveling west on River Road when Isa's vehicle turned left from eastbound River Road and struck the motorcyclist.
Richardson was ejected from her motorcycle which caused severe, life-threatening injuries, said the Department in a previous post.
Brenda's husband, Rod Richardson told KNBC-TV through ABC News that he has been tracking down the car that hit and killed his wife ever since.
Rod discovered an entrance of an apartment complex while he was at the intersection where the collision happened.
“Something was on my heart, tugging me, saying 'you need to go in,'” he told KNBC-TV.
Rod entered the complex and saw the suspect's vehicle, a 2006 Lexus ES300 with significant damage on its passenger side. He then called the Department and reported his discovery.
Isa's arrest came after officers were investigating the vehicle, said KTLA5.
