A music teacher at a Pennsylvania high school was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a teen student.

Their relationship came to light after the teacher’s husband informed the police about illicit messages his wife shared with the 17-year-old student.

Olivia Ortz, 26, worked at the Wilmington Area High School in Lawrence County as a choir director. Her husband had recently returned home from a trip to Florida and found messages shared between Ortz and the student on her iPad, according to the New York Post.

The husband, who also did freelance work for the school’s music department, informed the principal about the relationship.

Investigators spoke to the teenage victim, who called Ortz a “safe adult” and admitted they were in a romantic relationship. She told cops she trusted Ortz and confided in her, WTAE-TV Pittsburgh reported.

New Wilmington police said the teacher and student would communicate inside as well as outside the school.

While the husband was away on a trip, Ortz allegedly invited the teenager home, and they “snuggled” and watched TV. They later went into the bedroom and engaged in sexual activity, according to the victim.

Investigators found over 100 messages that the teacher and student exchanged using the Spotify app. They decided to have a code word to use in case someone found out about their affair.

The victim also said she visited Ortz at her house to “comfort” her several times after the teacher’s husband found out about the relationship.

When authorities interviewed the teenager and her parents on May 5, the victim defiantly said she was still in touch with the teacher and that they love each other.

Ortz was suspended from the school on May 9, and she later resigned from her position.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday, but Ortz refused to turn herself in and was seen singing at a local concert Sunday. She surrendered to cops Monday and was charged with two counts of intercourse/sexual contact with a school student and one count each of unlawful contact with a minor for sexual offenses and criminal use of a communication facility.

She is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Lawrence County Jail and is expected to appear at a preliminary hearing on May 25.

Ortz is the second teacher from the school’s music department to face such charges. Lawrence County District Attorney detectives filed a case in June 2020 against Jonathan Priano, 37, the former band and music teacher at Wilmington High. Priano is accused of having inappropriate personal relationships with female students and also having a fetish for tickling female students' feet, according to New Castle News.

Priano is charged with 10 counts of institutional sexual assault, two counts of unlawful contact with minors, 12 counts of corruption of minors, and two counts of endangering the welfare of children. His case is still pending.
