Jazz Jennings struggled to pick healthier food options when she took a trip to the grocery store on her own.
Ahead of the all-new “I Am Jazz” Season 7 episode this Tuesday, a sneak peek showed the trans reality star having a hard time when she set out to do some grocery shopping by herself.
“Resisting the unhealthy food is much harder than putting the health food in my car,” the 21-year-old said in an exclusive trailer released via People.
“[With] the unhealthy food, you have this psychological battle with it, and you're like, ‘I want it, but I don't want it, I want to lose weight, but I'm hungry,’ so it's much harder to resist unhealthy food,” she added in her confessional.
The teaser then jumped to a scene showing her picking up a chocolate-hazelnut spread, only to put it back on the shelf as she resisted her craving for the unhealthy food item.
While struggling to choose which foods she should buy, Jazz decided to call her mom, Jeanette Jennings, for help. The 55-year-old reluctantly helped her daughter but thought that Jazz should already know by now what food she should get.
“Jazz? You cannot call me when you’re up in the school grocery shopping,” Jeanette told her youngest child after leading her to the vegetable section.
“I know, but that’s why we’re preparing now for when I do it,” Jazz responded before saying goodbye to her mom and telling her that she’s finishing the errand on her own.
As seen on the show, Jazz got accepted to both Harvard University and Pomona College, and she ultimately decided to pick the former. However, she also chose to delay starting college because she wanted a gap year to work on herself and her mental health issues.
“You know I really want to prove to my parents that I can meet their challenges because I've always been a successful person, but lately it's been really hard finding the motivation to do things for myself,” the reality star admitted in her confessional.
Jazz is currently working on losing weight after revealing last year that she’s gained over 100 pounds due to her binge-eating disorder. In an earlier episode this season, she made it clear that she feels beautiful regardless of her size, but she’s eager to drop the extra pounds “for health reasons.”
“I Am Jazz” Season 7 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
