Police in Walpole, Massachusetts, were looking for a man who allegedly attacked his mother with a meat tenderizer Wednesday night.

Ian Crowley, 31, was wanted in connection with the assault that took place on Common Street. Though officials initially thought a knife was used in the assault, they later said the man used a meat tenderizer. The victim had several cut wounds in her body, police said.

Police believe the suspect, who fled on foot, could be armed and dangerous as no weapon was found at the scene. The suspect is also said to have mental health issues, New England Cable News reported.

Police and K-9 units are looking for Crowley and have asked anyone with information about the suspect to contact 911. Meanwhile, residents of the area were asked to stay at home and lock their doors.

Residents told ABC-affiliated television station WCVB that they received a robocall stating that the Walpole police was looking for a man with long, dark hair, who was last seen in the area of Common Street wearing dark Fila jumpsuit.

This is a developing story.
