Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev Dating Again? ‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Calls Former Girlfriend ‘Stunning’ [PHOTO]
Just two months after calling their relationship quits, “The Vampire Diaries” co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev appear to be on good terms, so good, in fact, that fans are buzzing that the former off-screen and current on-screen couple may have rekindled their three-year romance.
While the duo has yet to officially confirm or deny such allegations, Somerhalder did publicly compliment his 24-year-old co-star on social media earlier this week, even going so far as to call her cover photo on the latest issue of Cosmopolitan magazine “stunning.” “In a store this morning [and] who do I see? The one and only @NinaDobrev,” said Somerhalder on Instagram Monday. “These things are almost gone so if you haven’t gotten this magazine off of a self, get one. One world: stunning. Congrats Nina! Xo Ian,” he added.
Following his statement, fans have begged the 34-year-old actor to get back together with Dobrev, even giving the former couple the nickname “Nian.” “Can you guys please get back together? You two are perfect and we the fans want to see you two phenomenal actors together,” wrote Instagram user Kayla_Angelica_Monteiro. “Please get back together,” wrote another follower, Robe_99.
A mutual friend of the pair, “Teen Wolf” star Colton Haynes, was the first to confirm to Entertainmentwise in June that the twosome had ended their longtime romance. While Haynes, 25, said they were no longer an item, he did hint at a possible reconciliation. “I think you always have love for someone,” he said. “Every time you’re in a relationship, when you get out of one, I always think you still have a little bit of love left.”
Despite rumors of a possible rekindled romance, Somerhalder hasn’t remained subtle in showing his affections for other women over the past two months. The Louisiana native, who was rumored to be getting close to “Vampire Diaries” co-star Malese Jow, also accepted a fan's marriage proposal on Twitter last month. “How about let’s get married @IanSomerhalder. Sorry my proposal isn’t more romantic,” wrote user emanohar24, to which Somerhalder replied, “I think it’s plenty romantic. Proposal on Instagram is more than sufficient.”
Season five of “The Vampire Diaries” premieres on the CW Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 pm ET.
