IBM accused of anti-competitive tactics
IBM faces anti-competition complaint at the European Commission
T3 Technologies Inc will file an antitrust complaint with the European Commission on Tuesday accusing IBM of abusing its power in the mainframe computer industry.
T3, a U.S. based relatively small company, alleges that IBM prevents competition by tying the sale of its operating system to its mainframe hardware.
The company says IBM withheld patent licenses and other itellectual property to the detriment of mainframe buyers in Europe, according to a report from the Financial Times.
In 2007, Platform Solutions Inc filed a complaint with the EC, alleging that IBM abused market dominance. In 2008, the company was acquired by IBM and the complaint was canceled.
