The identities of the officers killed in the Fort Stewart training accident have been released: Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Jenkin, Cpl. Thomas Walker, and Pfc. Antonio Garcia, from the 1st Armored Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division, Georgia base.

On Sunday 3:20 a.m., six soldiers were training in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The vehicle "rolled off a bridge and was submerged upside down in a stream," Maj. Gen. Antonio Aguto, the commanding general of the division, said.

Amongst the deceased Army soldiers, Jenkins had recently completed 18 years in the Army and was a veteran of two Iraq tours. Walker and Garcia had never deployed overseas.

"It is hard enough when you lose one soldier. But when you lose three at one time, that pain is amplified. And we are really feeling and sharing that pain," said Aguto at a news conference.

A memorial service will be held at the Georgia base, Aguto announced.

Lead investigator Michael Barksdale declined to comment on how deep the vehicle was submerged. The Army is conducting autopsies and the Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker estimates up to four weeks for a preliminary report.

The three injured soldiers were taken to Winn Army Community Hospital. Two of them were released on the day of the crash and the third soldier was transferred to another hospital, although his injuries were not life-threatening.
