Just one day before Apple's iPhone 4S hits store, the team from iFixit disassembled the iPhone 4S and took a peek inside the new smartphone and posted photos.

The results suggest that the iPhone 4S is not so good as Apple claimed and we thought earlier. The iPhone 4S features A5 dual-core processor, 8-MP camera, up to 64 GB storage capability, iOS 5 and iCloud.

Here are some interesting things you need to know about iPhone 4S before snagging one.


512 MB RAM

Many people believed that iPhone 4S has 1 GB RAM. Unfortunately, iFixit revealed that iPhone 4S only has a 512 MB of DDR2 RAM.

Markings on the A5 chip (E4E4) show the processor has two 2 Gb LPDDR2 dies (4 gigabits is equivalent to half a gigabyte, or 512MB). Both Apple's iPad 2 and iPhone 4 feature 512MB RAM.


100 Hours of Lost Standby Time

iFixit said iPhone 4S has an extra .05 WHrs in the battery over the iPhone 4. iPhone 4S' battery offers 8 hours talk time on 3G, up to 14 hours talk time on 2G, and up to 200 hours standby time. This means iPhone 4S offers 100 hours less standby time.

Analysts said this is because iPhone 4S has a more powerful processor and some upgraded hardware that may consume more power, according to the blog Bits.

Siri cannot work on iPhone 4

The details about iPhone 4S reveal that Apple's new personal assistant Siri only work with A5 chip. This means Siri will not work on previous iPhone, but iPad 2, which sports A5 chip, can easily integrate Siri with a software upgrade.

Battery drain bug
Apple has bragged that the iPhone 4S will have 200 hours standby time (iPhone 4 300 hours), or 8 hours talk time on 3G (iPhone 4-7 hours), or 14 hours talk time on 2G, or 6 hours 3G browsing, or 9 hours Wi-Fi browsing. But iPhone 4 users have been complaining that the iPhone 4S's battery don't last as long as advertised. The new features provided by iOS5, and Siri may be causing the device's poor batter performance. But Oliver Haslam of iDownloadBlog says that battery drain may be caused by the iPhone's Location Services features. "See, it appears that iOS 5′s GM release introduced a bug that causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep the location tracking circuitry running constantly, draining battery power considerably," says Haslam. He says that turning off the Setting Time Zone function could cure the phone's battery life. But many users still have issues with the battery life after disabling. Some users actually resort to turning off the apps and the notifications in order to improve the battery life. ifixit
