Iggy Azalea’s Fiancé Nick Young Opens Up About Cheating Video, Says He Needs To Talk To D’Angelo Russell
Nick Young isn’t ready to address his relationship with Iggy Azalea, but he did admit that he needs to sit down with his Los Angeles Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell, after a video he recorded — which showed Young admitting he cheated on his rapper girlfriend — was leaked. During a press conference, Young said he didn’t want to talk about his personal life and wanted to handle things with Russell in private.
“I think it’s something we do need to sit down and talk about it,” he said Wednesday ahead of a Lakers game. “What happened is what happened. We’ve got to work on it.”
As previously reported, Young and Azalea’s relationship hit a rough patch this week when a grainy video surfaced that showed Young lying on a bed and talking about how he was unfaithful to his fiancée. Young didn’t know Russell was recording their conversation.
During that same press conference, Russell also commented on the video, admitting to reporters that he feels responsible for potentially ruining Young and Azalea’s relationship. The pair got engaged in June and were supposed to marry later this year. Azalea, however, postponed the wedding to 2017 because she’s getting ready to go on tour.
“I feel sick as possible … I wish I could make things better right away, but I can’t,” Russell said. “I’ve always been known as the guy that plays around a lot, and he has been too … He’s one of the guys that I’ve always talked to about anything, and I cherished our friendship and for me to, I don’t know, have an incident like this come up and put it in jeopardy was not what I intended to do.”
Russell said he has talked to Young and several other teammates about the situation but doesn’t know if Young has forgiven him yet.
According to TMZ, Azalea and Young’s relationship is “hanging on by a thread” and the basketball player is doing everything he can to fix things. The outlet reports that the Lakers head honchos are also trying to get Young and Russell to hash things out so everyone can move forward.
