K-pop group Red Velvet's Wendy is back in the spotlight after a year-long hiatus due to a stage accident.
The South Korean singer returned to the stage by making an appearance at SMTown's online concert, titled "Culture Humanity," on New Year's Day. She sustained severe injuries, including a fractured pelvis, wrist and a cracked cheekbone, after falling down from the stage while rehearsing for SBS Gayo Daejeon in December 2019.
Wendy recently spoke to Marie Claire Korea and opened up about resuming activities with the band, returning to variety shows, and more.
Wendy, who looked absolutely stunning and gorgeous in the magazine's photoshoot, said she was nervous about it, as it was one of her first solo pictorials.
"I looked up a lot of poses last night before bed on my phone by searching up words like 'photo shoot' and 'magazine.' I referred to photos of models in suits like the draft I received in advance. I don't have a lot of experience filming pictorials alone so I was a bit nervous, but I had fun shooting," the singer said in the interview.
Wendy also talked about the time she spent recuperating from her injuries and her journey back to the stage.
"Because I am back to promotions after a hiatus, I actually feel like I've returned to my rookie days. I feel nervous and excited, like this is my first time doing everything," the singer said about her long-awaited return, Allkpop reported.
She also revealed that while on break, she spent a lot of time with her parents.
"I remember spending a lot of time with my parents the most. I lived and studied abroad for a long time during my childhood, and after my debut I was always busy promoting so I've never spent much time with my family. My parents also told me that they valued the time they were spending with me," the singer said.
The 26-year-old artist recently joined JTBC's music variety show, "Mystical Record Shop," as a host, along with Yoon Jong Shin, Jang Yoon Jung and Super Junior's Kyuhyun. The show premiered on Jan 22.
Wendy decided to join the program as she felt hearing life stories from guests would help her grow. She said she learned a lot about music, especially from the 1960s and 1970s, after being on the show.
"I wish for everyone to be warm and healthy. I think happiness exists not only at some special location, but also close by. Instead of being nervous, why not take a slow look around you? As you do that, I might visit you soon to bring you happiness," the singer said, adding that she will express herself more through her future activities.
