KEY POINTS
- The script is being written for "Indian Jones 5"
- Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy shared details in a recent interview
- The film will be released in 2021
After facing multiple challenges and delays, “Indiana Jones 5” is finally being made. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy shared some details about the upcoming Harrison Ford movie and confirmed they are currently busy developing the script.
Speaking with BBC on the BAFTA red carpet, Kennedy said that they are “working away” on the new film. How far along are they in the development process? The producer said that they are currently focussed on the script, which they are trying to perfect.
Once the team is happy with the script, they will be ready to start filming. As far as the story is concerned, Kennedy revealed that it will not be a reboot, which means the story will continue with events after “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
The film was supposed to be released in 2019, but due to several reasons it got delayed. One of the biggest reasons for the delay has been the script, Screen Rant reported.
David Koepp was supposed to write the story initially, but he exited the project. Jon Kasdan took on the responsibility next, but things didn’t work out with his script. Dan Fogelman also gave it a shot, and it remains to be seen if they will be able to get the right script for “Indiana Jones 5.”
While there are challenges, there are also some positive developments for the movie. Arguably, the biggest positive for the film is that Steven Spielberg is back in the director’s chair for the project, Screen Rant reported.
George Lucas is also back as a producer. Lucas is the creator of the Indiana Jones character, and Spielberg is keen on having him onboard for his creative inputs.
The plot of the film is yet to be announced. The only confirmed cast member so far is Ford. “Indiana Jones 5” is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2021.
