Indiana Teenager Charged With Murder After Two Teens Found Dead During Botched Drug Deal
An Indiana teenager on Monday was charged as an adult for the killing of two teens after a drug deal gone bad.
Seventeen-year-old Connor Kerner of Valparaiso allegedly killed Thomas Grill Jr., 18, and Molley Lanham, 19. The parents of Grill and Lanham had reported them missing on Feb. 26 after they had gone a day without contact.
Kerner reportedly admitted to acquaintances that he killed Grill and Lanham. Porter County Sheriff’s Police reportedly received an anonymous tip that Kerner had killed Grill and Lahnam and then put their bodies in a car and lit it on fire.
"I did something really bad," Kerner said, according to a probable cause affidavit. "I killed someone, and I killed an innocent girl."
The Porter County Sheriff's Department stated that Grill and Lanham went to Kerner's grandparents' house to purchase drugs. Kerner told police that during the meeting, Grill allegedly tried to rob him, which led to him to pull out a gun on Grill. He went on to shoot Grill several times.
"Grill fell to the ground and was begging for his life," according to the arrest warrant. "Kerner advised that he panicked due to being out of bullets in the gun. Kerner then beat [Grill] with a pipe wrench until he died."
Kerner allegedly shot and killed Lanham after killing Grill.
