The 99th running of the Indianapolis 500 is set to get underway Sunday afternoon, as American Ryan Hunter-Reay looks to become the first repeat winner since Helio Castroneves in 2002.

Scott Dixon, who was born in Australia but grew up in New Zealand, has the poll. The 34-year-old had the poll when he won in 2008 with a time of 3:28:57.6792. He can become one of just 19 drivers who has won the race more than once. Dixon enters the race as the favorite with 9/2 odds.

"I guess the cool thing to go would be to sit here and say, 'Oh no, I don't think about that history stuff, I just go out and race and let those things take care of themselves,'" Dixon said. "But the reality is that when you are at Indianapolis you can't help but think about the history of this place. You want to be a part of that."

Television coverage begins at 11 a.m EDT.
