After a Virginia jury ruled that Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp in a newspaper opinion piece claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse, many wondered what’s next for the actress.
According to reports, Heard is set to move with her daughter Oonagh onto a property in California's hippy town Joshua Tree. Here's a closer look at Heard’s desert home.
The home spans over 2,400 square feet, and the property, which stretches over nearly six acres of desert land, boasts a custom-built 110-feet-long bridge that leads to a mountainside gazebo.
Inside, the main living area features concrete floors and high ceilings. The home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The primary bathroom comes with dual closets and ground-stone dual sinks. The home also has a fireplace and a nifty bar area with a wine cooler.
Other features include a surround stereo system wired throughout the home and a 1,200-square-foot garage.
Heard reportedly purchased the property in 2019 for $570,000, but she did not move into the home until earlier this year, according to Dirt.
“Amber loves spending time in the desert. It’s the one place she can get away from everything. She’s really connected with the artistic community there, and feels she experiences a true getaway,” a source told Mirror.
“Joshua Tree is full of cool hipsters, and it’s just her scene. She can get away from it all, and it’s a sanctuary. In recent months, it’s given her time to reflect and escape the pressures of the case.”
Depp sued Heard for $50 million, claiming his ex-wife defamed him when she claimed she was "a public figure representing domestic abuse” in a newspaper op-ed. Heard countersued for $100 million, saying Depp smeared her when his lawyer called her accusations a “hoax.”
After a six-week trial, the jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages from Heard. Meanwhile, the panel awarded Heard $2 million in damages.
