Instagram Video Users: 13 Accounts To Follow After IG Extends Length Of Clips
In the words of "Almost Famous": "It's all happening." Social media app Instagram announced this week it would start rolling out longer videos — up to 60 seconds as opposed to just 15, the current limit.
"This is one step of many you’ll see this year," the Facebook-owned social media powerhouse promised in a Tuesday blog post. "In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent. And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s (@bretmanrock) latest makeup tutorial."
What are you going to do with all that freedom? Follow some new users, hopefully. Take advantage of the expanded creative opportunities to start tracking the profiles of Vine stars, artists and celebrities.
Here are 13 video-focused users you should follow on Instagram:
• rachelryle, an illustrator, posts stop-motion videos of her drawing everything from Easter eggs to Grumpy Cat.
• nbcsnl, the account behind "Saturday Night Live," regularly uses its account to post clips from its most popular sketches.
• nowthisnews gives you super-quick summaries of breaking news events — with helpful details in the comments.
• mydaywithleo describes himself as a "satirical photographer" and "stop-motion enthusiast" who wears pants only occasionally, but his account is pure art (and paper cutouts of various celebrities' heads held over real bodies).
• hummingbirdsxoxo is exactly what it sounds like — a weirdly soothing but somehow exciting account that posts frequent videos of hummingbirds drinking from a woman's hand.
• lego helps you relive your childhood with clever ads and helpful how-to videos sure to spark your imagination.
• arianagrande posts clips of the pop star singing, Snapchatting and hanging out with various dogs.
