The new flagship CPU of Intel is now available with some retailers offering pre-binned i9-11900K Rocket Lake-S processors for gaming and overclocking pleasure of enthusiasts.
Silicon Lottery, a seller known for its cherry-picked processors with guaranteed speeds, otherwise known as pre-binned chips, is currently offering pre-binned Intel i9-11900K CPU. This particular version could reach a boosted speed of 5.1 GHz clock on all cores when overclocked. Usually, consumers can purchase the Intel i9-11900K CPU at 4.6 GHz at around $539 MSRP.
The pre-binned Intel i9-11900K CPU is available on the said retailer for $879.99. Consumers interested in getting their hands on this pre-binned Intel CPU do not need top-of-the-line equipment to achieve the 5.1 GHz overclock. Tech enthusiasts just need to pair the CPU with a 240mm radiator, perhaps Asus motherboards and the DDR4 RAM below specific frequencies.
It is worth noting that pre-binned processors are for those who want to achieve guaranteed clock and overclock speeds on their unlocked parts. Wccftech mentioned that the 100 to 200 MHz difference in clock speeds will not yield any major gains for the mainstream users but for enthusiasts who treat these chips like gold.
Apart from the Intel i9-11900K CPU, the retailer also offers a plethora of other pre-binned processors. This includes the pre-binned Intel Core i5-11600K all-core 4.8 GHz boost at $250, the 4.9 GHz boost variant for $260 and the 5.0 GHz boost variant for $340. The retailer also sells the pre-binned high-end Intel Rocket Lake-S chip Core i9-11900K 4.9 GHz for $620, 5.0 GHz for $700 and the above-mentioned 5.1 GHz for $880.
Tech enthusiasts should be on the lookout for the power consumption and temperature of the overclocked Core i9-11900K CPU. MSI earlier reported via a podcast, that an overclocked Core i9-11900K could have skyrocketing temperatures. At its default 4.7 GHz with a DIY water cooling solution, the CPU runs at 73C with the 4.9 GHz rising the temperature level up to 84 C.
Experts, however, claim that Silicon Lottery statistics do not reveal the sample size. According to Tom's Hardware, "Without that value, you can't really assess on the precision of the company's results. At a first glance, the odds do look favorable."
