International Pillow Fight Day was observed on April 7 and massive pillow fights were conducted in cities all around the world. The day is popularized by the Urban Playground Movement.

Pillow fighting is becoming a rage all over world and has become part of a flash mob culture. To popularize the sport which involves mock physical fighting with soft pillows as weapons, pillow fights are organized all over the world.

The participants gathered in the pre-fixed venues in each city with the pillows and participated in the mass pillow fighting. Pillows were shredded throwing cotton and feathers all over as the participating mobs screamed and celebrated the frenzy.

Certain groups opposed pillow fighting, terming it as an unhealthy sport that involves shredding pillows with home bugs.
